Axillary Web Syndrome

AWS staat voor het Axillary Web Syndroom (AWS). Dat is een syndroom waarbij er strengen in uw oksel ontstaan. Dat kan gebeuren na het verwijderen van lymfeklieren, als onderdeel van de behandeling van borstkanker. AWS verdwijnt meestal vanzelf na 3 maanden. U kunt AWS sneller laten verdwijnen door uw arm te strekken. Dat doet u met hulp van de fysiotherapeut of door thuis te oefenen.
