Interpreter

Patients that do not speak Dutch or have problems with the language may request an interpreter. The interpreter will ensure that you and the nurse or doctor will understand each other better. You can make the request at the department in the hospital where you have an appointment or where you have been admitted. Please state clearly in which language you would like to communicate in, so that the right interpreter is requested at the Interpreter and Translation Centre the Netherlands. This service is free of charge.

Status of asylum seeker

If you have asylum seeker status with a registration card (RZA), please clearly state this with your request. This involves a different procedure for requesting an interpreter at the hospital. You may also arrange for an interpreter yourself by contacting the Dutch Council for Refugees. A volunteer of this foundation could possible assist you with interpreting. This service is free of charge.

Tolk

Spreekt u geen Nederlands? Of heeft u moeite met de taal? Dan kunt u een tolk aanvragen. De tolk zorgt ervoor dat u en de verpleegkundige of arts elkaar goed begrijpen. U kunt de aanvraag doen bij de afdeling in het ziekenhuis waar u een afspraak heeft of waar u bent opgenomen. Geef bij uw aanvraag duidelijk aan in welke taal u zich goed kunt uitdrukken. Zo vragen wij bij Tolk- en Vertaalcentrum Nederland de juiste tolk voor u aan. De tolkservice is gratis voor u.

Status asielzoeker

Heeft u een status van asielzoeker met registratiepas (RZA)? Dan is het belangrijk dat u dit duidelijk aangeeft bij uw aanvraag. Er geldt dan namelijk een andere procedure voor de aanvraag door het ziekenhuis. Als u contact opneemt met Vluchtelingenwerk Nederland kunt u ook zelf een tolk regelen. Het is mogelijk dat een vrijwilliger van deze stichting voor u wil tolken. De tolkservice is gratis voor u.
